September 7 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join the Door County Historical Society to celebrate Vintage Day! The historical society will host its annual Vintage Day on Saturday, September 7th. Activities will be held from 10 am to 3 pm at the Heritage Village at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.
To celebrate Vintage Day, we will serve foods with a history—sloppy joes, Bavarian pretzels, whoopie pies, and cherry pie. All activities have been scheduled with “vintage” in mind.
At the Vignes School there will be costumed interpreters that will engage guests in schoolhouse lessons. We will also be joined by a wonderful group of ladies from Oneida that will teach guests how to make cornhusk dolls.
The Cherryland A’s will be at the village to showcase their vintage cars. The Madden Tool Museum will be open so you may learn about antique tools. Or, bring one of your own to try and stump the experts!
Blacksmith for a Day is back! Try your hand at blacksmithing with our onsite blacksmiths. Participants will experience elementary blacksmithing and leave with either an S hook or a leaf. Guests should wear cotton clothing, close-toed shoes, and are encouraged to bring safety glasses (though we have extras if needed).
Member admission is free and guest adult admission is $6.50. Food will be available for additional cost. If you are interested in volunteering, call 920-421-2332.
The Heritage Village is located at 2041 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay. The Heritage Village will be opened for self-guided tours during the day’s festivities beginning at 10:00 am; the adult admission fee is $6.50 and a donation for youth admission is appreciated. For information, contact Door County Historical Society at (920) 421-2332 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
