Greetings!
Another week of work ended Thursday afternoon. Lots of progress this week at the lighthouse. Josh and Dion have been busy scraping, sanding and painting windows and shutters. The back door frame has been painted and caulked. Same for the front door frame and casing. The front screen door is back in place after being painted.

Sometime during the early morning of July of July 9, the Sturgeon Bay Parks Department came to remove the anchor pedestals from the platform. They needed them to set the anchor up at Bullhead Point Park.

More bad bricks have been removed for replacement and more old mortar has been ground out for replacement.

Brick replacement and mortar repair continues on the tower.

After the lighthouse closed for the day Thursday, Josh brushed muriatic acid on the chimney to clean the bricks and mortar. He had to wait until now for the new mortar to cure completely before cleaning. All the brick will eventually get the same treatment.

The new brass covers for the vents in the lantern arrived. Because the screw locations are different for each of the vents Chuck has templates to use as a drilling guide for each cover. Chuck will use a drill press to drill all the holes in the covers and they will be installed in the lantern. One more coat of paint needs to be put on the lantern floor before the Fresnel lens can be put back in the lantern. The lens should be ready for lampist Kurt Fosburg to reinstall and restore it sometime after July 22.

John Fletcher and I touched base this morning. Depending when the new spires are finished John might deliver them next week but he thought more likely it will be the week after, sometime the week of July 22.
