Greetings!

Most of the rear gable has been painted the lead color. If you look at the pictures you will see something missing. The dry rot on the spire was so bad that the bottom half of the spire fell off along with the horizontal boards.

There is extensive dry rot on the end of a horizontal board that went into the pocket on the bottom of the spire. Hopefully the spire on the front of the building will be in better shape than the rear one. It looks to be ok, but we will not know until an up close and personal inspection is done. We will know more when John Fletcher is back early next week.

The overgrown white lilac at the corner has been removed. It was touching the fascia board at the kitchen roof and was in the way of painting that and the lower part of the gable end. It probably would have been in the way of the underground power feed to the meter pedestal. The way it was growing it could not have been trimmed and looked right. Fortunately there is a smaller white lilac that is not growing against the building. It will have to be managed to keep it that way so it does not grow to the point where it touches the lighthouse.

In some old period photos the stone window sills were white. Unless there are any objections John Fletcher intends to keep them that way. It would take additional effort to remove all the white on the sill stones. The committee will discuss this at their next meeting.
