From the Keeper’s Desk – June 11

Greetings!

Lots of action at Eagle Bluff Light Station today.

Billy and Cory got the vertical siding boards installed on the south end of the barn. It was slower going than the north end because of all the things they had to go around or things that had to go through the siding.

Josh and Deion worked on replacing more bad bricks. They also rebuild a window frame in the basement that had some rotted wood and no sill. They started on cleaning up the exterior basement walls so they can put a finish on them. Along the way they discovered another basement window that will need framing repairs.

Chuck enlarged the access opening in the second floor closet to get behind the knee wall. No more worries about someone getting stuck trying to get through the old small opening.

We had a lighthouse trolley tour with 25 guests.

The plaster guys installed sheetrock in the barn and summer kitchen. They did not have enough to finish everything. Reason is that Mike ordered 12 foot long sheets of drywall but the supplier sent 8 foot sheets. They will come back later to finish up.

The roofers arrived this morning and when I left at 3 pm they had the roof on the summer kitchen almost finished. Most likely they finished it before they quit for the day. We will find out tomorrow morning. Next is putting the metal shingle panels on the barn roof.

All in all it was an exciting day and much was accomplished.

Ed
