From the Keeper’s Desk – June 20

Greetings.

Mike and Billy did more shingle installation on the barn. It is amazing how the shingles complete the historic look of the barn.

Yesterday afternoon John and Deanna cleaned up the area where shingles were stained. Next time the park cuts the grass they will be able to cut more grass that has not been cut yet.

Chuck and Ed worked on odds and ends. Humidity was high and there was lots of moisture in the tower basement so Chuck put a fan in the window. Chuck moved the shelves in the basement back against the recently white washed walls that Josh and Deion did. Yesterday Ed put spar varnish on the bottom of the summer kitchen and barn threshold boards. Today Mike cut them to width and sanded the top side. Ed put one coat of spar varnish on the top and edges. Only one coat possible today because they did not dry as fast as yesterday. Will get two more coats on Monday.

Ed
