Autumn is in full swing in Door County, and there’s still time to experience the history and charm of our sites before the season ends. The Door County Historical Society invites you to visit Eagle Bluff Light Station and Heritage Village during their final days of regular 2025 operations.
Both sites will close for the season after Thursday, October 24. Eagle Bluff Light Station will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., giving visitors the chance to explore the lightkeeper’s home, learn about the history of the lighthouse, and enjoy breathtaking views of Green Bay. Heritage Village will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., where guests can wander through historic buildings and see what life was like in a rural Door County village at the turn of the 20th century.
Before the season wraps up, Heritage Village is hosting a special Vintage Halloween Decorations program on Saturday, October 18, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Visitors will step back in time to see how families in Door County celebrated Halloween over 100 years ago, with a showcase of historic decorations and stories from the past. This hands-on program is a fun way to explore history while getting into the Halloween spirit.
Looking ahead, Heritage Village will reopen for one of our most beloved traditions, A Glimpse of Christmas Past, held on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout December. During this event, the Village transforms into a nostalgic winter wonderland, complete with candlelight, holiday décor, and the warmth of the season.
Your visits and support help the Door County Historical Society preserve and share the history of our region. Consider making a donation today to ensure we can continue these programs and keep our historic sites thriving for generations to come.
