From the Keeper’s Desk – Nov 1, 2025

Greetings!

Work on the HVAC system is moving along at a good pace. Eric from Wulf Brothers is doing a terrific job. Lots of ductwork installed and the refrigerant lines are connected from the inside air handler to the outside heat pump unit. It will be operational once our electricians get power to the system.

Mike finished the edging for the river rock at the tower except for a piece that Chuck completed.

Here is a report from Chuck on what he accomplished Nov 1:

I was able to close-up the basement windows today – the old plywood boards affixed to cover up the screens on the exterior, then used some scrap rigid foam insulation from National Restoration to fit into the window spaces on the inside of the basement, finished the wood landscape edging.  We are now ready for DC Property Services to come back and fill-in the spaces with the dirt and river rock that they left.

We are also ready for the insulation company to complete their work.  The HVAC is coming along well, albeit that the interior of the lighthouse is a BIG mess, especially the basement.

I turned the heat on in the loft of the barn but it appears that the lowest we can set the temperature to is 60 degrees, 10 degrees warmer than we need.  I see no need at this time to heat the first floor of the barn.  We’ll have to ask Wulf Bros. if 60 degrees is actually the lowest temp we can set the unit to.

I am going to try to work on the winter kitchen window this week along with removing the screen doors from the summer kitchen and barn and getting a coat of paint on the bottom of them.

Chuck

Nicely done Chuck. Next up is to get the electrical work finished, the insulation work done and the floors finished.
