There’s no better way to celebrate the season than by giving a little of your time to bring joy to others. The Door County Historical Society is preparing for one of our most heartwarming traditions—A Glimpse of Christmas Past—and we’re inviting volunteers to be part of the magic that makes this event so special.
Each Friday and Saturday in December from 3:00–6:00 PM, Heritage Village in Sturgeon Bay will transform into a nostalgic holiday wonderland. Visitors will stroll through our historic buildings, each lovingly decorated by local nonprofit organizations. The glow of lights, the scent of evergreen, and the sound of laughter fill the Village, creating a festive experience that captures the spirit of Christmas in days gone by.

To make it all happen, we need friendly faces to help welcome guests, assist in the gift shop, and sell coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. Volunteers enjoy being part of the holiday cheer while staying warm in a cozy, heated building. Whether you’re greeting visitors, chatting with families, or helping serve a sweet treat, your presence helps create the sense of community and warmth that this event is known for.
Volunteering at Heritage Village isn’t just about helping—it’s about connecting. You’ll meet others who share your love for history, tradition, and the joy of giving back. Together, we’ll make sure every guest leaves with a smile and a memory to cherish.
