A Strong Year as We Step Into Our Second Century

As we step into a new year, I want to pause and thank you for being an active part of the Door County Historical Society. Your involvement—as a member, donor, sponsor, volunteer, attendee, or visitor—directly shapes what we are able to accomplish. The progress we celebrate is truly shared progress.

Looking back, 2025 was a year of solid momentum and measurable impact. Attendance increased across our historic sites and programs, reflecting a growing interest in Door County’s history. We strengthened our financial footing with gains in both contributed and earned revenue, and our membership continued to grow—expanding the community that sustains our preservation, education, and programming efforts. These results are not accidental; they are the outcome of your participation and belief in our mission.

At Eagle Bluff Light Station, we reached several long-anticipated milestones. The completion of the barn and summer kitchen marked a major step forward in restoring the site’s historic landscape. HVAC installation in the keeper’s residence improved collections care and visitor comfort, while restoration of the oil house and privy advanced our commitment to authenticity and preservation. Each of these achievements was made possible through generous donations and community support.

Heritage Village also saw meaningful progress. Careful work on buildings and grounds preserved these important structures and enhanced the visitor experience, ensuring the Village remains a welcoming and educational place for families, residents, and visitors alike.

Behind the scenes, our Board of Directors has been deeply engaged in a strategic planning process that is now nearing completion. This thoughtful work is helping us clarify priorities, strengthen operations, and chart a clear path forward as we prepare to enter our second century of service.

That momentum carries us into our 100th anniversary year. A wide range of programs and activities are planned and I hope you will join us throughout the year. Please also mark your calendar for October 1, 2026, when we will gather for a major celebration marking the official day of our organization’s conception.

To honor this milestone, we have set two centennial goals:

  • Welcome 100 new members
  • Raise $100,000 to provide stability and support future growth

Your continued generosity through your time, talents, and gifts is essential to reaching these goals and ensuring the long-term strength of the Door County Historical Society.

I am confident in the future of the Door County Historical Society and honored to lead this work alongside dedicated staff, volunteers, members, and donors. Thank you for being part of our past, present, and future—and for helping our organization continue to grow through your involvement and donations.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Amy Frank
Executive Director
