Don’t miss our October Dine & Discover program! Join the Door County Historical Society on Monday, October 26, for an intriguing evening of history, mystery, and a little grave digging!
This month’s program, “Grave Digging: Researching a Life Story,” features historian and storyteller Dennis R. Jacobs, who will reveal how to uncover the fascinating stories of people from the past.
Ever wonder how historians bring historical figures to life for cemetery walks and presentations? Dennis will take us through the research process, from basic genealogy and historical records to old newspaper articles that reveal personal accomplishments, surprising connections, and even a scandal or two! You’ll discover how to piece together the details of someone’s life and uncover stories that might otherwise be forgotten.
The program also builds on DCHS’s work with the Bayside Cemetery Association in celebrating the cemetery’s 150th anniversary.
