Experience the charm of an old-fashioned Christmas while supporting local nonprofits!
The sights, sounds, and traditions of Christmases long ago return to Heritage Village this December as the Door County Historical Society presents the 4th Annual A Glimpse of Christmas Past!
Now in its fourth year, this beloved holiday tradition invites families, friends, and visitors of all ages to experience the warmth and wonder of Christmas as it might have been celebrated more than a century ago.
Every Friday and Saturday in December, from 3:00–6:00 p.m. (excluding December 25), Heritage Village will welcome guests to explore its historic buildings, beautifully decorated by local nonprofit organizations. Each organization will transform its building with historically appropriate holiday decorations inspired by the traditions of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
From simple handmade ornaments and natural greenery to vintage decorations and festive touches of yesteryear, each building offers a unique glimpse into Door County’s Christmas past.
Four Organizations, One Wonderful Holiday Tradition!
We’re delighted to welcome this year’s participating nonprofit organizations:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin
- Sunshine Resources
- Door County Libraries
- Wild Ones of Door Peninsula
Each organization brings its own creativity and holiday spirit to Heritage Village, and there’s a little friendly competition involved!
Vote Early, Vote Often, and Spread the Holiday Cheer!
Admission is FREE, but visitors are encouraged to show their appreciation by voting for their favorite decorated buildings with a donation. The suggested donation is $20, but every contribution is welcome!
Here’s the fun part: You can vote for more than one building, and you can vote as often as you’d like! Love them all? Vote for them all! Have a favorite? Come back and vote again!
The organization whose building receives the most donations will be crowned this year’s A Glimpse of Christmas Past winner.
But here’s what makes this event especially meaningful: All proceeds are shared among the participating nonprofit organizations. That means every donation helps support the important work these organizations do throughout our community, regardless of who wins the competition.
It’s a win-win for everyone!
Warm Up with Holiday Treats!
After exploring the decorated buildings, stop by the heated Greene Store for a little holiday hospitality. Hot chocolate, coffee, and delicious Christmas cookies will be available for purchase. It’s the perfect place to warm up, visit with friends, and enjoy a sweet treat.
Make A Glimpse of Christmas Past Part of Your Holiday Traditions!
Whether you’re returning for your fourth year or discovering this event for the first time, A Glimpse of Christmas Past offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down during the busy holiday season, enjoy a little history, and make memories with those you love.
Bring your family, invite your friends, and experience the simple joys of an old-fashioned Christmas—all while making a difference for local nonprofits.
