We’re pleased to welcome Sydney Whitcher as our new Site Coordinator at Eagle Bluff Light Station!
Sydney brings a strong background in history, museum studies, and public engagement. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Women’s and Gender Studies and Museum Studies. Sydney is originally from Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and comes to us with eight years of experience in both public and academic libraries. She also completed an internship with the Portage County Historical Society, where she sharpened her research and interpretive skills.
Sydney’s passion for public history and exhibit interpretation will serve her well at Eagle Bluff Light Station, where we are currently undertaking a major restoration project. In her free time, Sydney enjoys crocheting, painting, and hanging out with her cats. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to seeing her creativity and enthusiasm at work on the bluff.
As Sydney steps into this new role, we also want to share a staffing update. Wendy Wagner, who has served as Site Coordinator for the past several seasons, has transitioned into a new part-time role as Site Coordinator for Heritage Village. Wendy’s knowledge of our sites and her dedication to sharing Door County’s history remain invaluable, and we are grateful for her continued presence at the Village.

Please join us in welcoming Sydney to the Door County Historical Society and in congratulating Wendy on her new position. If you haven’t already, stop by Eagle Bluff or Heritage Village this summer to say hello—and while you’re there, consider becoming a member or making a donation to help support our historic sites and educational programs. Every contribution helps us grow!
