Door County Historical Society Forms
A group of 20 citizens gather at the County Courthouse and vote to create a historical society.

First Meeting
Held at the Union Hotel, approximately 35 of the nearly 100 new members were present at the first annual meeting of the Door County Historical Society. The speaker was Prof. John B. McHarg of Lawrence College. The society adopted a constitution and bylaws at this first meeting.

DCHS has 222 members – possibly the largest of any historical society in the state.

7000 people attended the dedication of this monument, to honor the Pottowatami people.

First publication of the Peninsula Historic Review. It was intended to an annual publication, but it was so popular it was published quarterly.
