The Door County Historical Society is hiring a Site Coordinator and Lighthouse Docents for the 2025 season at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in beautiful Peninsula State Park. This is your chance to step into history and bring the past to life for visitors from around the world.
Lighthouse Site Coordinator – Be the Heart of the Lighthouse!
The Lighthouse Site Coordinator is the daily operations manager of Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, ensuring it runs smoothly and continues to be a welcoming and educational destination. You’ll oversee the visitor experience, manage docent scheduling, and help coordinate special events and tours. This role is perfect for someone who is organized, loves working with people, and enjoys the rich history of maritime life in Door County. Responsibilities include:
*Welcome visitors and create a memorable experience for them.
*Train and schedule volunteer docents.
*Assist with events, group tours, and special programs.
*Manage the small gift shop and admissions area.
*Help keep the lighthouse and grounds looking their best.
Lighthouse Docents – Share the Story of Eagle Bluff!
Our Lighthouse Docents, are the storytellers, guides, and ambassadors of Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. With its stunning views of Green Bay and its fascinating past, this 1868 lighthouse has stories waiting to be told—and you can be the one to tell them! No prior experience? No problem! We provide all the training you need. If you love history, enjoy meeting new people, and have a passion for storytelling, this is the perfect role for you. What you’ll do:
*Lead engaging tours through the lighthouse, sharing its history and the lives of the keepers who once lived there.
*Answer visitor questions and make history come alive!
*Help with lighthouse operations, including admissions and the gift shop.
