From the Keeper’s Desk – April 27

Greetings!

Chuck made my work with this episode of From the Keeper’s Desk easy when he provided the following narrative:

Many hands make light work!
Ed, Sandy, Chuck, Laurie and Wendy spent two hours at the lighthouse Sunday morning putting the furniture and everything else back in the gift shop and dining room.  Before that happened, we vacuumed and mopped the floors to pick-up all of the paint specks and plaster sanding dust, then moved the furniture back into the gift shop.

The furniture from the dining room, which was temporarily stored in the parlor, was put back into the room along with furniture from the master bedroom (excluding the bed) and office/music room (excluding the piano).  Much cleaning of furniture also occurred, but there will more to do before opening, such as the bookcase in the gift shop.

After the first floor hallway, master bedroom and office/music room are finished, they will move upstairs and get the hallway done. The parlor, boy’s bedroom, and guest room will be painted later this summer, in the July/August time frame.

The newly painted rooms look terrific and give the inside of the lighthouse a fresh, inviting, brighter look.

Outside the wood plank stamped concrete floor slabs had a sealer applied to them Saturday. The look is incredible. Mike will be putting ¼ inch plywood on top of the new concrete to protect them during the framing and building part of the project. Framing material and plywood was delivered and construction of walls will start on the summer kitchen Monday.

More to come!
Ed
