Greetings!
It has been almost three weeks since the last update from the keeper.
The keeper is happy to report that all the HVAC work in the lighthouse has been completed. A big thank you to Eric Becker from Wulf Brothers along with help from Tyler who made it all happen. And thank you to Scott Vanden Plas from Wulf who made sure Eric was available to complete the work with no interruptions. The installation was done with great respect to all the areas visible to lighthouse guests. We have had heat in the lighthouse since Dec 4 when Eric activated the heat pump system. We will maintain a temperature of 45 deg to protect all the restoration work. By keeping it from freezing in the lighthouse paint should not peel and plaster not crack. And we are able to store paint and other supplies in the lighthouse basement and not have them freeze.
The hayloft in the barn is heated to protect all the things from freezing that we used to have to store offsite. Right now it is not necessary to heat the first floor of the barn.
Thanks to everyone who made the monumental work that was accomplished this year possible.
Still things to do next spring. As the great philosopher Yogi Berra once said:
“IT AIN’T OVER TILL IT’S OVER.”
