From the Keeper’s Desk – June 19

Greetings!

Today was a transformative day at Eagle Bluff Light Station.

Josh and Deion prepared the basement walls for the second coat of white wash that they applied today. They also put a second coat of red paint on the oil house roof. The oil house door has a new coat of black paint on the inside and outside. A remarkable change from what it looked like before. And after power washing, the inside of the oil house will get fresh paint.

The last of the monumental task of shingle staining was completed today, all 2400 shingles. For a while it seemed like a never ending job. Chuck and Ed got great satisfaction collecting and stacking the shingles that were stained today. Chuck and Sandy probably got even more satisfaction staining the last two shingles.

Ed put spar varnish on boards that will be used for barn and summer kitchen thresholds.

And to cap off the day Billy and Mike started putting shingles on the upper half of the barn walls. It really gives a good glimpse of how outstanding the barn will be when finished.
