From the Keeper’s Desk – June 3

Greetings,

Here is a summary of painting activities we did today from John:

Another busy day. Chuck finished a second coat of paint on the barn window trim. Ed painted the trim that goes above the board and batten. Deanna, Chuck, and John tackled the rest of the vertical barn boards completing 2 coats of stain. All 90 boards are ready for installation.

Mike went home and brought back his planer. He finished off planing a batch of the batten boards. That will be tomorrow’s project to get about 100 of those finished with 2 coats of stain.

If we have enough volunteers, we can tackle the staining of the shingles on Thursday. There is a huge stack of them, but no heavy labor. Just dipping, and leaning them against a wire to dry. They need just 1 coat.

Mike has some more Azec on order for the ground contact around the barn. That will have to be painted white. We do have a 1/2 gallon of paint left over so hopefully that will be enough.

We’ll see what the weather is tomorrow morning.

Josh and Deion worked on brick and mortar repairs. We also determined what the size of the spires for the privy will be.

Mike and Billy installed siding on the east side of the summer kitchen. It looks terrific.

More amazing progress!

Ed
