From the Keeper’s Desk – May 6

Greetings!

It was a productive day at Eagle Bluff Light Station, with progress taking place both inside the lighthouse and out on the grounds.

Indoors, our painting crew continued their work, bringing new life to the interior with bright, welcoming colors. If everything stays on track, painting should be completed in all rooms—except for the large second-floor bedroom—by sometime next week.

Outdoors, framing began on the barn. We lost a day yesterday due to a mix-up at the lumber yard: the delivery ticket didn’t make it to the loading team, which delayed delivery of the framing lumber. Thankfully, that was resolved this morning when the truck arrived early.

Framing got underway quickly. By day’s end, all four walls were up. Tomorrow, the crew plans to install blocking and apply the plywood sheathing, paving the way to begin work on the second story.

We also had a visit from Mike Maltby of Action Electric, who reviewed the scope of work needed to install electrical conduit in the barn and summer kitchen. He is planning to trench from the lighthouse to both outbuildings to lay the underground conduit necessary for bringing power to each. While onsite, Mike also double-checked what will be required to complete the wiring inside the lighthouse.
