At the Door County Historical Society, we believe history is best experienced—not just read about. That’s why we’re excited to launch our new Education & Youth Programs Committee, dedicated to expanding learning opportunities for children at Heritage Village.
This committee will focus on creating hands-on, engaging school tours for local students, helping them discover what life was like in Door County between 1890 and 1910. Students will step inside historic buildings, experience the sights and sounds of the past, and gain a deeper understanding of how our community has grown and changed over time.
In addition to school programs, the committee will develop a summer camp at Heritage Village, offering kids a fun, interactive way to explore local history through crafts, games, and outdoor activities. It’s a wonderful chance to spark curiosity and imagination while connecting the past to the present.
We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about history, education, or simply making a difference for kids in our community. Whether you enjoy planning, teaching, or lending a helping hand, there’s a role for you on this committee.
If you’d like to get involved, contact us at 920-421-2332 or visit www.doorcountyhistoricalsociety.org. Together, we can ensure that future generations appreciate and preserve Door County’s remarkable heritage.
And if volunteering isn’t possible, please consider making a donation to help us grow our education programs and make them accessible to all. Every contribution supports our mission to collect, maintain, and share the history and heritage of Door County.
