Master Gardeners Dina Boettcher and Ruth Watson are the force behind our very successful heritage garden. Here’s the latest update from Dina.
“Keeping things watered and weeded is the name if the game right now. The harvests are getting larger. I dropped a good amount of produce off to Vicki at Feed My People. She said it’s ALL moving so keep on bringing it in!”
Today’s harvest included Kale, Swiss Chard, red lettuce, romaine lettuce, basil, kohlrabi, pickles, peas, beets, rhubarb, parsley and sage. Tomatoes are on their way, too!
Dina and Ruth will host a special program on Saturday, August 9 – Inside the Heritage Garden (1:00pm–2:00pm)
Step into our vibrant German heritage garden and uncover what makes it authentically “German.” Learn how heirloom plants are chosen and cared for and explore the cultural roots of this beautiful space. (Adults only)
Pre-registration is encouraged for all programs to ensure enough materials are available. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Programs are included with Village admission unless otherwise noted for supplies. All events begin at the Greene Store at Heritage Village, 2041 Michigan St, Sturgeon Bay.
