The lantern room was the first area to see major work. First order of business was to completely enclose the top of the tower to keep debris contained. The April gusts of wind off the bay made it very interesting! Workers scraped, blasted, and removed all corrosion, rust, algae, and paint from the interior and exterior of the lantern room. They also cleaned and opened the vents throughout the room to allow proper ventilation. Once clean, they primed and painted the exterior using historical colors.
