This October, the Door County Historical Society invites you to gather with friends and neighbors for an evening of history, conservation, and community at our monthly Dine & Discover program.
On Monday, October 27, 2025, we welcome Emily Wood, executive director of the Door County Land Trust, to share how the organization protects and stewards more than 10,000 acres of Door County’s most cherished landscapes. From forests and wetlands to shorelines and islands, these protected spaces are part of the story of who we are—and the legacy we leave behind.
Emily, recently named a 2025 Lake Michigan Champion of Conservation, will highlight how conservation goes beyond land protection. It’s about safeguarding the places people love so they can be enjoyed by future generations.
The program will be held at Door County Fire Company (38 S. Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay). Guests may enter by elevator or stairway. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., and the program will follow. Dinner includes a chicken buffet with garden salad, mashed potatoes, vegetables, apple dessert, and a cash bar.
Reservations are required by October 20. The cost is $40 per person, with a discount for DCHS members at $35.
Dine & Discover evenings are more than just dinner and a lecture. They are a chance to connect with others who care about our shared heritage, enjoy meaningful conversation, and learn from experts shaping the story of Door County today.
By attending, you are also supporting the Door County Historical Society’s mission of preserving and sharing the county’s history through education, programming, and preservation projects. Donations beyond the ticket cost are always welcome and help us grow these opportunities for years to come.
