We’re excited to welcome visitors back to Eagle Bluff Light Station beginning Friday, May 22, with expanded experiences, restored buildings, and more opportunities than ever to step back in time and explore Door County’s maritime history.
The site will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. throughout the season.
This year marks an exciting new chapter for Eagle Bluff as guests experience the results of the extensive restoration and reconstruction work completed over the past three years. Visitors can now explore five historic buildings that together tell the story of life and work at the lighthouse during the Duclon era (1883–1918), when Capt. William Duclon, his wife Julia, and their seven sons called Eagle Bluff home.
For the first time, the barn and summer kitchen will be open to visitors. The reconstructed barn now serves as the visitor center, welcoming guests, sharing the story of the restoration project, featuring exhibits, and offering one-of-a-kind merchandise related to Eagle Bluff, Great Lakes history, and lighthouse life.
The summer kitchen and winter kitchen have also been interpreted to reflect their historical uses, helping visitors better understand daily life at the station.
As always, guests may tour the restored keeper’s residence, climb the light tower, view the original Fresnel lens, and enjoy the spectacular views overlooking Green Bay and the Strawberry Channel. New interpretive signs throughout the site allow visitors to explore at their own pace.
“After years of planning, fundraising, restoration, and reconstruction, we are thrilled to share this work with the public,” said Amy Frank, Executive Director of the Door County Historical Society. “Visitors can now truly immerse themselves in a bygone era and experience what life was like for the families who lived and worked at Eagle Bluff.”
Admission is $7 per person. Door County Historical Society members and veterans are always free.
Join us this Friday and be among the first to experience the newly restored Eagle Bluff Light Station as we begin an exciting new season!
