The wait is over—Opening Day at Heritage Village is almost here, and we invite everyone to join us for a day of history, hands-on activities, and old-fashioned fun!
Saturday, May 23
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
FREE Admission
Step back in time and experience life in rural Door County at the end of the 19th century as Heritage Village opens for another exciting season.
On Saturday, visitors can explore our historic buildings, visit with interpreters, and enjoy live demonstrations throughout the Village. Be sure to stop by the Blacksmith Shop to see sparks fly and craftsmanship in action, and visit the Madden Tool Museum to discover tools and trades from days gone by. Check on the progress of our Heritage Garden, while learning about the importance of gardens back then. Stop by Vignes School House for a 1880s lesson and ring the bell at the Chapel.
This year’s Opening Day also includes a community quilt activity, giving guests a chance to help create something meaningful together—one square at a time.
And of course, no visit would be complete without our good old-fashioned bake sale! Browse a delicious assortment of homemade treats and take home a little sweetness while supporting the Village.
Whether you’re a longtime supporter, a first-time visitor, a local resident, or spending the weekend in Door County, Opening Day is the perfect opportunity to experience everything Heritage Village has to offer.
Bring the family, invite your friends, and come discover the stories, buildings, and traditions that make Door County history come alive.
Join us this Saturday—we can’t wait to welcome you back to Heritage Village!
