Expanded hours, new visitor center, and enhanced interpretive experiences await guests
The Eagle Bluff Light Station will officially open for the 2026 season on Friday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m., welcoming visitors with expanded access and exciting new experiences.
For the first time, guests will be able to explore the newly reconstructed barn and summer kitchen, marking a significant milestone in the site’s restoration. The barn will now serve as the visitor center, where guests can begin their experience, learn the story of the lighthouse, view exhibits, and shop for one-of-a-kind merchandise.
The summer kitchen and winter kitchen will be thoughtfully interpreted to reflect their historical use during the lighthouse’s restoration period of 1883–1918, when Keeper William Duclon and his family lived and worked on site. These spaces provide a deeper, more immersive understanding of daily life at the lighthouse.
Visitors can also enjoy the site’s most iconic experiences. Guests are invited to tour the interior of the keeper’s residence and climb to the top of the light tower to look into the lantern room and see the original Fresnel lens up close. New interpretive signage placed throughout the property enhances the self-guided tour experience, offering engaging insights at every stop.
In response to growing interest, the lighthouse will operate with extended hours this season—open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week.
“This season is incredibly meaningful for us,” said Amy Frank, Executive Director of the Door County Historical Society. “We are so excited to share the work we’ve done over the past three years to restore the lighthouse, privy, and oil house, and to reconstruct some of the critical buildings that were lost over time. Visitors can now truly step back in time and immerse themselves in a bygone era, experiencing what life was like here in a way that simply wasn’t possible before.”
Admission is $7 per person, while members of the Door County Historical Society and U.S. veterans receive free admission. As a Blue Star Museum, active military personnel and their immediate families are able to tour Eagle Bluff Light Station for free Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The 2026 season marks an exciting new chapter for Eagle Bluff Light Station, offering visitors an even richer opportunity to connect with Door County’s maritime history.
