This year, as we celebrate 100 years of preserving Door County’s history, we’re kicking off something special—and we’d love your help.
We’re working to collect 100 stories from people who make Door County what it is. These could be stories about growing up here, starting a business, working the land or water, raising a family, serving the community—or just living a life full of good stories worth sharing.
To make it happen, we’re teaming up with local high school history students, who will sit down with selected residents this spring for a casual 30–45 minute conversation. They’ll also take a photo and write a short story based on what they learn.
All of these interviews will be brought together in a book, with QR codes so people can listen to each story in the speaker’s own voice. It’s a way to capture not just history, but personality, perspective, and lived experience.
And this is where you come in.
Who should we talk to?
Maybe it’s your neighbor. A coworker. A friend. A relative. Someone who’s been around forever—or someone with a great story to tell. Big or small, every story helps paint the picture of Door County.
You can even nominate yourself.
If someone has helped shape this community—or simply has a story worth sharing—we want to hear about them.
