From the Keeper’s Desk – May 27, 2026

Greetings,

The spring 2026 issue of the US Lighthouse Society Keeper’s Log arrived in yesterday’s mail. The “Notice to Keepers: Great Lakes District” had a feature on Eagle Bluff Light Station. How exciting!

It also had an item on a sister lighthouse at McGulpin Point and the third and one half order Fresnel lens on loan from the Coast Guard they will be displaying. EBLH also had a third and one half order Fresnel lens as its original lens in 1868. It is not our lens. It came from Grays Reef Lighthouse in Michigan. Sure wish we had information on what happened to ours.

As I was looking through past issues of the Keeper’s Log I had to include an item about Tawas Point Lighthouse because it has a red roof like our new roof.

I could not resist including the story about White River Light Station another EBLH sister lighthouse.

And lastly a story about Port Washington Lighthouses. The historic 1860 lighthouse also has the same red shingles we put on our lighthouse.

Ed
