As Heritage Village prepares to open for the 2026 season, excitement is building for what promises to be an engaging year. With new programming, enhanced exhibits, expanded educational opportunities, and continued dedication from the Village’s passionate volunteers, visitors can expect a memorable journey into Door County’s past.
Expanded Living History Programming
Next season brings a vibrant schedule of hands-on demonstrations, docent interactions, and engaging guest speakers. With the help of a grant from the 100+ Women Who Care, we plan to increase our outreach programming to area schools and youth organizations. Guests will continue to step inside our historic buildings to learn about the lives of families living on the Peninsula from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

New Exhibits and Interpretive Enhancements
A fresh face will be given to the artifacts in the Greene Store. Artifacts will continue to be displayed, but in a more visitorfriendly manner for a richer experience. Plans are in the works to feature more individual items on our social media sites for additional engagement opportunities. Our new interpretive signs will be installed this spring and will surely offer our visitors a broader understanding of our historic buildings.

Community Partnerships and Events
Heritage Village will continue strengthening its partnerships with local organizations, schools, and cultural groups. The 2026 calendar will include a vintage market day, our famous Root Beer Festival, and a children’s Settlers Day in late summer to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

A Season Built on Service and Tradition
What truly sets Heritage Village apart is the commitment of our volunteers. Whether it is helping with special events, preserving buildings, maintaining the grounds, our volunteers’ dedication ensures the Village remains a place where history continues to be shared. We cannot attain our goals if it were not for volunteers. With plans to expand our docent program, we are looking for more friendly faces to join our team of fantastic volunteers.
