Our Volunteers are the Best!

There is a lot happening at the Door County Historical Society this year—and behind nearly everything we do is an incredible group of volunteers.

With more than 75 volunteers giving their time, talents, energy, and enthusiasm to DCHS, we simply could not do what we do without them.

Throughout the season, our Eagle Bluff Light Station and Heritage Village committees and volunteers help keep our historic sites running smoothly. They welcome visitors, share stories, care for our buildings and grounds, tackle projects large and small, and help create the experiences that bring Door County history to life.

Then there are our special events! From Opening Day and the Root Beer Festival to the Eagle Bluff Light Station Grand Opening and so many other programs and activities, volunteers are there every step of the way. They set up, clean up, greet guests, serve refreshments, lead activities, answer questions, solve problems, and jump in wherever an extra pair of hands is needed. Quite simply, these events would not happen without them.

Our volunteers also help behind the scenes. At the DCHS office, they file, sort, clean, organize, prepare mailings, work on special projects, and take on the countless little tasks that keep an organization moving forward.

And that’s only part of the story.

There are far too many people—and far too many contributions—to list them all individually. What we can say is this: our volunteers are the best!

One of the greatest joys of the Door County Historical Society is being surrounded by people who are passionate about history, care about their community, and are willing to lend a hand—sometimes at a moment’s notice. They bring knowledge, humor, friendship, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to help preserve and share Door County’s history.

To every person who has volunteered with us this year: thank you. Whether you’ve given us an entire season, a few hours at an event, helped with a committee, tackled a project at the office, or simply said, “Sure, I can help!” when we needed you, please know how much we appreciate you.

We’re fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people to work alongside—and we’re always happy to welcome more!
