History lovers, this one’s for you!
The Door County Historical Society is excited to share a special opportunity for our DCHS members & friends to experience The Root Beer Lady, a captivating theatrical production presented by Northern Sky Theater. Gather a group of 15 or more and enjoy discounted tickets to this remarkable story brought to life on stage!
The Root Beer Lady tells the fascinating true story of Dorothy Molter, the last legal non-Indigenous resident of Minnesota’s Boundary Waters. Beginning in 1934, Dorothy built a solitary but fulfilling life in the North Woods, embracing independence, welcoming visitors, and developing a deep connection to the wilderness around her.
When the Saturday Evening Post dubbed her the “Loneliest Woman in America” in 1952, Dorothy had other ideas!
Written and performed by acclaimed Chicago-based writer and actor Kim Schultz, whose previous solo work has appeared at the Kennedy Center and Off-Broadway, this funny and heartfelt one-woman show celebrates independence, grit, and a love of the natural world.
It’s a perfect outing for history enthusiasts, friends, volunteers, and anyone who appreciates the extraordinary stories of ordinary people.
