Thank You for Celebrating With Us!

What a special day for the Door County Historical Society! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday as we celebrated not one, but two honors from the Wisconsin Historical Society.

At Eagle Bluff Light Station, DCHS received a 2026 Historic Preservation Award recognizing the remarkable rehabilitation of this treasured Door County landmark. The award celebrates the years of planning, fundraising, restoration, and collaboration that brought new life to the lighthouse and its historic grounds while preserving them for generations to come.

Later that afternoon at Heritage Village, we were incredibly proud to receive the Reuben Gold Thwaites Trophy for Local History. This annual award recognizes a local historical organization for outstanding service in preserving and sharing Wisconsin history. It is a wonderful recognition of the work of our staff, board members, volunteers, members, donors, and supporters — past and present.

Having so many of you there to share these moments with us made the day even more meaningful.

And the celebration isn’t over! The Reuben Gold Thwaites Trophy is now on display at the DCHS office at 130 N. 4th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Everyone is welcome to stop in, see it for yourself, and help us keep the celebration going!

Thank you for being part of this very special chapter in DCHS history. ❤️
