The Lighthouse Is Glowing, the Band Is Ready—Let’s Celebrate!

After months—and, in some ways, 100 years—of anticipation, the Door County Historical Society’s centennial celebration is finally here!

Over the next eight days, we’re offering three very special opportunities to celebrate Door County history with us: two magical evenings at Eagle Bluff Light Station and one unforgettable night marking the Historical Society’s 100th birthday.

And here’s the good news: if you thought you missed your chance to register, you haven’t. We still have a little room, and you can sneak in!

Twilight Tours — This Saturday & Next Saturday

There is something completely different about Eagle Bluff Light Station after the sun begins to set.

Join us Saturday, September 26, or Saturday, October 3, from 6–8 p.m. for Twilight Tours, one of our most popular experiences of the year.

As evening settles over Peninsula State Park, step inside the historic lighthouse and travel back to another era. Costumed interpreters will share stories of the people who called Eagle Bluff home, while music, refreshments, and the warm glow of the Fresnel lens create an atmosphere you simply can’t experience during a daytime visit.

Tours depart every 20 minutes, and space on each tour is limited. There are still openings, but don’t wait too long to claim yours.

A Roaring Good Time: Cheers to 100 Years — Thursday, October 1

Then, right between our two Twilight Tour evenings, comes the big one.

On Thursday, October 1, the Door County Historical Society turns 100 years old—and we’re throwing a party worthy of the occasion!

Join us at 6 p.m. at The Lodge at Leathem Smith for A Roaring Good Time: Cheers to 100 Years, a once-in-a-century celebration of the people, stories, places, and community that have shaped the Historical Society since 1926.

The Swingin’ Door Big Band will provide the soundtrack for the evening, with live music, dancing and dance lessons. We’ll have heavy hors d’oeuvres, our signature Door Roar cocktail, a champagne toast, a cash bar, vintage automobiles, and plenty of surprises along the way.

And yes, 1920s attire is encouraged! Break out the fringe, feathers, fedoras and pearls—or simply come as you are. The most important thing is that you’re there.

This isn’t a formal history program. It’s a party. Bring your spouse, gather your friends, make a night of it and help us raise a glass to an organization—and a community—that has spent a century preserving Door County’s stories.

Registration was supposed to be closed by now, but we’ve managed to squeeze out a few more spots. So if you’ve been thinking, I really wish I had signed up…
