Twilight Tours Bring Eagle Bluff to Life After Dark

As daylight faded over Green Bay, Eagle Bluff Light Station took on a different character. The historic buildings glowed against the evening sky, stories of lighthouse life filled the rooms, and visitors experienced this Door County landmark in a way few have the opportunity to enjoy.

On September 26 and October 3, the Door County Historical Society welcomed guests for two special evenings of history, storytelling, and exploration. Our Twilight Tours offered a rare opportunity to experience the beautifully restored light station after hours, with costumed interpreters bringing its fascinating past to life.

Costumed interpreters helped transport visitors back in time, sharing stories of the lighthouse keepers and their families, the challenges of life on the bluff, and the important role the light station played in guiding ships safely through the waters of Green Bay. With music, refreshments, and the warm glow of the lighthouse, the evenings offered a memorable glimpse into another era.

These tours were especially meaningful as we celebrated both the completion of the extensive restoration of Eagle Bluff Light Station and the Door County Historical Society’s 100th anniversary. Seeing visitors explore and enjoy this beautifully restored historic treasure after dark was a wonderful reminder of why preserving our history matters.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended! Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and support helped make our Twilight Tours such a success. We loved sharing these special evenings with you and hope you left with a deeper appreciation for Eagle Bluff and the people who once called it home.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated volunteers, costumed interpreters, musicians, and staff who helped bring these evenings to life. From preparing the grounds and welcoming guests to sharing stories and guiding tours, your time and talents made these events possible.

Relive the Magic!

We captured some wonderful moments from both evenings, and we’re excited to share them with you! Take a look through the photos below for a glimpse of the people, places, and special moments that made our Twilight Tours so memorable.

As we wrap up an extraordinary Centennial season, events like these remind us that history is more than dates and artifacts. It’s about the stories we share, the places we preserve, and the experiences that connect us to generations past.

Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to welcoming you back to Eagle Bluff Light Station for more history, discovery, and memorable experiences in the years ahead!
