Greetings!
Things are moving along nicely at the lighthouse. Taylor Elam of Taylors hardwood floors was here to work on refinishing floors. We were scheduled to meet at 0730 and when I got there at 0730 Taylor already had a good start on the floor in the winter kitchen. He said he arrived at 0650.
It is an amazing transformation as Taylor was removing the old finish from the kitchen floor. The sanded floor looks fantastic. He put the first of three coats of finish on the kitchen floor. While waiting for it to dry he started buffing the floors in the music room and parlor. It is essentially a light sanding as to not take away the patina the floors in those rooms developed over time. They will be getting three coats of finish.
He also repaired some damage in the floor by the door at the parlor to the hall. He used a clear epoxy to stabilize the damage. I left at 1130 before he put a coat of finish on the parlor and music room floors. Looking forward to seeing how those floors look tomorrow morning. Taylor will put the last coats on the floors tomorrow. We can walk on the floors after tomorrow without shoes and have to wait several days before we can return furniture to the rooms. Chuck has felt pads he will put on the bottoms of the furniture before putting them back on the newly refinished floors. Taylor should be able to return next week Thursday to refinish the rest of the rooms in the lighthouse.
Jeanne was back painting windows before moving on to doing the walls and trim in the big second floor bedroom.
Chuck cleaned windows in the stairway of the barn that were dirty from dust and condensation.
