Get into the Halloween spirit with a little history and creativity at Heritage Village!
For centuries, gardeners and farmers have used bird decoys to protect their crops from unwanted visitors. But how do these feathered look-alikes work, and why have they remained a gardening tradition for generations?
Join us on Saturday, October 17, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. for “Hoot” Garden Owls, a fun, hands-on program that explores the history of bird decoys and their role as guardians of the garden. After learning about these clever crop protectors, participants will create their own vintage-inspired owl craft, just in time for Halloween!
This program is recommended for children ages 9 and older accompanied by a parent or guardian. It’s a great opportunity to combine a little history, creativity, and seasonal fun.
The program is free with regular admission to Heritage Village ($6 for adults and $3 for children).
Location: Heritage Village, 2041 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay
Come discover a bit of gardening history and create a charming Halloween keepsake to take home!
